Hi Daniel,

I'm a long time reader, but first time poster on these boards. I just read your blog, and seeing that I know Sydney fairly well thought I should give you a couple of recomendations for your stay:

1. Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. It's very taxing but well worth it, the views are magnificent, and the guides have a great sense of humour.

2. Speed boating on the harbour. Exhilirating!!

3. Manly Ferry. Take a nice trip across the harbour, and just hop off the boat, and try a couple of pubs (most have good vegetarian menu options), or stroll along the beach.

4. Rockpool restraunt. (if you can get in) My wife is a vegetarian, and swears by this establishment.

5. If you are still there on Saturday Morning, take a look around Paddington markets. It has some cool arty type stuff to buy, and a great food fair from around the globe with a lot of different vege options. It's on Oxford Street. Yes, that's the "gay" street you were on today.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay, and good luck with the "project" you are working on.

Thanks. A couple of those recommendations I got from some people here.

Yeah man, you should check out the "rocks" area. lowenbrau keller on the rocks. German beers!
Also the waitress is really hot lol

I recomend "Hofbräu München"

Oh yeah, and man you came about a day after mardi gras.
mardi gras + oxford street = gay central

Hi Daniel

I'm so intrigued by what it is you're doing here in Sydney, can't wait to find out. We're probably all way off anyway!

Things to do in Sydney, well it's a big busy city so there are always plenty of things going on. Darling Harbour is nice, lots of shops and cafes plus the aquarium. Pitt St Mall's always good for killing a few hours with shopping (although i'm a girl so i might have a different opion on shopping than you! biggrin.gif ) The Australian and Powerhouse Museums are good, if you like that sort of thing, or take the ferry over to Taronga Zoo. You should definitely do the Sydney harbour Jet, so much fun!!! If you wanna go a bit out of Sydney, you could check out Bondi beach (weather permitting), a very touristy destination.

I wish us Sydneysiders had the oppurtunity to meet you while you're here, but i guess we can wait until next time. I was hoping you would have been playing in the APPT final, but that's ok, i made do with a "baby" from Scotty Nguyen.

It's ashame you aren't here on Sunday because the Australian Poker League Pro Series Final is on, you can buy in on the day. Not a big event in your standards, but still would be good to see some famous faces in Australian Poker.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay here in Sydney (Just voted best city in the world apparently!!!), hopefully you're not too lonely, i'm sure there are some FCPers who would gladly show you around, me included! biggrin.gif

All the best.

Lol, long story short, I was about to go to bed at around 7am (lol), but I read that this was playing.
So I caught like 4 trains, bus and a tram to star city, and the bouncer dude at the door told me it ended the day before.

So I played cash and lost $200 to a guy with KK against A2 soooooted. What a great day.

(suggesting something a little bit out there)

Sydney is a great busking town, if you're bored you could get a microphone and an amp, go to circular quay, do some comedy, and see how big of a crowd you can get (and how much coinage you can make)

The single best thing I remember about Sydney was the pizza. Sounds strange, I know. I think Aussie pizza is generally pretty weak (sorry to you down-undas). I'm not sure how veggie you are, but if you eat cheese, then at

423 Pitt St.

there is this place (I hope it's still there) with a Spanish sounding name. I was veggie when I visited 5 years ago, and had the 4 cheese and mushroom pizza. It was the single best pizza experience I've had. I memorized the address and totally forgot the name, lol.

Cheers,
Chris

made me laugh. seriously though, you have to be careful of spiders here.
They are really everywhere.

But the pizza here actually does rock. But I have never left the country, so I guess I have nothing to compare it to.

Hmmm... there's a big $1000+$50 tournament on 7:30 tonight (Tues 4th) in Sydney at Hurstville Pokerdome featuring some of Australia's finest including Gary Benson and Jeff Lisandro. Probably is Daniel's idea of torture for a Sydney getaway...

Kidding?! Damn! I'm sleeping right through it.

hello. how exciting, daniel's describing things right where i live!

the movie at govindas isn't actually that strange, there's a dinner and movie deal where you have the vegetarian buffet and watch a movie upstairs. the movies are the normal movies, nothing scary there, the seats at the cinemas are designed so you can lie back.

you went to sydney right after the mardi gras weekend, and ended up in kings cross - no wonder you encountered lots of people with 'alternative lifestyles'!

if you're looking to explore, check out the rocks and opera house, then you can walk on over to botanical gardens for a stroll and relaxation.
